Edition Policy

Limited Edition Policy

Released in strictly limited editions, each print of Chris Rayn’s work is individually numbered and authenticated by the artist and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. Produced with museum-quality archival materials, these editions have been created to be collected, displayed, and enjoyed for generations.

A Finite Edition

Limited editions are an integral part of how these works are made available to collectors. Each artwork in the States of Spring, States of Fall, and Waterworlds series is released in two distinct sizes, with a fixed edition limit for each size.

  • 12 × 12 inches — Edition of 100

  • 16 × 16 inches — Edition of 50

Each size is a separate and independently limited edition. The stated edition size represents the maximum number of prints that will ever be released for that artwork in that size.

The edition limits are fixed and will not be increased.

Individual Numbering & Authentication

Every print is individually numbered within its edition, identifying its specific position in the finite release. An edition number such as 27/100 indicates the twenty-seventh print in an edition limited to 100 impressions.

Each print is authenticated by Chris Rayn on the front of the artwork. The authentication is part of the individual work and confirms its status as an original impression from the stated limited edition.

The print is also accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity (COA) documenting the work and its edition information. Further information about the Certificate of Authenticity and the information it contains can be found on the Certificate of Authenticity page.

Digital Verification

Each limited edition print is additionally registered in a digital authentication system.

A unique QR code associated with the work allows collectors to verify its authenticity online through verify.chrisrayn.com. The digital record provides an additional layer of documentation alongside the physical print and Certificate of Authenticity.

This combination of physical and digital authentication is intended to give collectors a clear and enduring record of the individual work they own.

No Reprints Beyond the Edition

Once the stated edition limit has been reached, the edition is permanently closed.

No additional prints will be produced beyond the published edition size for that artwork and size. A sold-out edition will therefore not be reopened, enlarged, or replaced by a later edition of the same work in the same size.

This commitment preserves the finite nature of each edition and provides collectors with clarity about the number of impressions that can exist within that edition.

Edition Numbers

The number assigned to a print identifies its position within the edition. For example:

12/100
The twelfth print from an edition limited to 100.

34/50
The thirty-fourth print from an edition limited to 50.

Edition numbers are assigned to individual impressions and correspond to the edition record maintained for the work.

Collecting the Work

These editions are intended to provide collectors with access to Chris Rayn’s work while maintaining a clearly defined relationship between availability and scarcity.

The edition structure is established at the time of release and remains fixed throughout the life of the edition. Each collector therefore acquires a documented individual impression belonging to a finite body of works.

Whether acquired as a first piece from the practice or added to an existing collection, every limited edition is intended to remain a fully documented part of Chris Rayn’s artistic archive.
