About States of Fall
States of Fall reflects on a truth we often encounter throughout life: that beauty does not disappear in the face of endings, but often becomes most poignant because of them. Created from autumn foliage and treescapes at the height of their transformation, the series explores the impact of moments that are not meant to last.
From a distance, the works unfold as rich fields of texture and color, where individual forms dissolve into luminous expanses of gold, amber and crimson. As the viewer moves closer, leaves and branches emerge from within the field, their structures still visible yet already yielding to the larger rhythms of change. The experience shifts between presence and absence, inviting reflection on what remains visible and what is already passing from view.
At the heart of the series is a meditation on finitude. These works do not seek to resist change, but to dwell within it, finding meaning in moments that are both beautiful and temporary. By preserving these fleeting states of transformation, they offer a way of returning to experiences that remind us of the value, fragility and intensity of being here at all.
States of Fall is an evolving long-form body of work released in carefully curated groups of limited editions. Each print is signed, numbered and produced as an archival pigment print on Hahnemühle German Etching fine art paper.
