“The Cloud Mirror”, Tibet, 2006
Cona Lake, also called Lake Donggi Cona, is located in Northern Tibet in the Amdo county. At an altitude of more than 4000m, it is one of the highest fresh-water lakes of the world, and one of the holy lakes of the Tibetans. Located far away from any human settlements, the Lake is so flat and clear that on a sunny day, it will act as an gigantic mirror to the clouds and the sky itself. The Tibetan Railway to Lhasa passes close to the shores of the lake, giving travellers the unique chance to experience this wonder of nature.
